Yin Yoga & Sound Healing
The practice of Yin Yoga originating from Taoist traditions, encourages practitioners to slow down and cultivate mindfulness and introspection. Simple and accessible Asanas are held for longer periods of time ranging from 3-5 minutes to enable deep stretching, relaxation and surrender. By releasing tension held in the body and calming the nervous system, Yin Yoga helps reduce stress and provides a space where practitioners may explore their thoughts, emotions, and sensations that arise during practice, fostering greater self-awareness.
According to the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Yin Yoga promotes the flow of energy or qi (chi) through the targeting of different energy pathways in the body. Yin Yoga aims to balance Yang qualities of dynamic, muscular focused activities with its more passive introspective approach. By incorporating Yin Yoga practice into one’s routine, can help bring a greater sense of equilibrium, complementing sports and hatha or vinyasa styles of yoga.
The sessions are focused on targeting different meridians and muscle groups through gentle stretching combined with deep breathing. The asanas are adjusted to individual needs. I complement my sessions with guided meditations such as Yoga Nidra and sound healing using crystal singing bowls and a Native American style flute to induce an even deeper relaxation and a meditative state.
Acupressure & Reiki
Acupressure massage is a therapeutic bodywork based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and aims to balance the flow of life force energy qi (chi). Pressure is applied to specific acupoints and gentle strokes are applied along the meridian pathways of the body. The acupoints which are located along the meridian pathways correspond to various organs, systems and functions in the body. It can also be helpful in releasing stuck
Reiki is an ancient healing modality originating in Japan in the late 1800s. “Rei” means universal or spiritual and “ki” or “qi” means life fore energy. It is a hands on modality where the practitioner serves as an open channel for transmitting “ki” to others. The practitioner positions their hands with a centered intention, which is achieved through meditation, on the different areas on the body corresponding to the chakras or energy centers. The intent is to support the body’s natural healing ability from a conscious and compassionate state.
In my sessions I combine these two ancient healing modalities for optimal results. Benefits include pain relief, balancing the energy flow of the body, improved circulation as well as relaxation and stress relief. I offer sound healing with crystal singing bowls and Native American style Flute for better integration of the session.
Fascial Reset
Fascia is a connective tissue with spiderweb-like structure found throughout the body that surrounds all the structures in the human body, muscles, bones and organs. Fascia plays a crucial role in maintaining the structural integrity and function of muscles and it has approximately 6-10 times more sensory nerve endings than muscles.
Fascial Reset is a combination of Fascial Maneuvers developed by the Human Garage as well as TRE – Trauma and
Tension releasing exercises. Fascial Maneuvers area a mix of intention, movement and breath, the body and mind are calmed by breathing exercises and tension is released by stretching, moving and counter-rotation. If practiced regularly, fascial maneuvers help re-program the body out of habitual stress cycle and back into alignment.
TRE-Tension and Trauma Release Exercises is a method developed by Dr. David Berceli. An innovative series of exercises that assist the body in releasing deep muscular patterns of stress, tension and trauma. The exercises safely activate a natural reflex mechanism of shaking or vibrating that releases muscular tension, calming down the nervous system. When this muscular shaking/vibrating mechanism also called “neurological tremors” is activated in a safe and controlled environment, the body is encouraged to return back to a state of balance.
These exercises are suitable for all levels no matter your range of motion and flexibility.
By combining these two methods we are able to open up the fascial network with Fascial Maneuvers and release tension and stiffness with TRE.
Breathwork
Breathing happens unconsciously and without our constant effort. However, it can also be used as a powerful tool for healing and self-discovery.
There are two components of breathwork, breath awareness and conscious breathing. Breath awareness simply helps us observe our current state of body and mind and become better at feeling the subtle cues that indicate we are out of balance. Once we have discovered our disbalance we are able to bring ourselves back to harmony by means of consciously breathing or controlling our breath with specific breathing exercises. We can willfully influence the brain and the autonomic nervous system and change our mind-body state. By consciously altering our breathing patterns, we can activate the parasympathetic or the sympathetic nervous system depending on where our disbalance lies and what our aim is.
Conscious connected breathwork is a type of conscious breathing practice where sympathetic activation is followed by parasympathetic activation. We breathe deeply, by using the diaphragm muscle and eliminate the pause between the inhale and the exhale. It is a powerful and effective technique to overcome deep fears and transform emotions, especially feelings of limitations, blockages, and traumas. It develops your ability to relax through uncomfortable feelings and to overcome physiological, emotional, and psychological barriers.
In my sessions I combine conscious connected breathing techniques from a variety of styles Holotropic Breath, BBRTS – Biodynamic Breath & Trauma Release System and Transformational Breath with intuitive movement, mediation and sound healing.
Private sessions will be customized according to individual needs and aims, using elements either from breath awareness or conscious connected breathing or both.
